Lewes RFC offer their heartfelt congratulations to their former junior player, Calum Waters, who has been named in the England U20 Elite Player Squad. England are looking to defend their Six Nations title won memorably against France at the Brighton Community stadium last year.
Calum learned his rugby as a junior at Lewes where he developed into a promising scrum-half before moving on to Worthing and then Harlequins where he signed a two year contract last year.
Calum is still a keen supporter of Lewes RFC and is involved in fundraising for the Club and regularly comes back to the Stanley Turner Ground where his passion for rugby developed.
Calum's selection completes a hat-trick of England players with a Lewes connection: Tom Mitchell - whose father Alan was scrum-half in Lewes' highly successful team in the 70s - is captain of England's 7-a-side team who will be playing this year's Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, while another member of the same squad - Tom Bowen - played at all Junior levels for Lewes before progressing to the first team and then on to professional rugby. Tom's father Gareth was also a stalwart in Lewes' 1st XV for many seasons.
You can read more about it on the Harlequins' website.
