Pulborough, Heathfield and Lewes all came together at Lewes on Sunday 19 November for a joint training session and practice game

With the weather looking good the Lewes Lionesses headed out onto the first team pitch to welcome Heathfield Girls and Pulborough Girls to a joint training session and friendly game. The teams were split into three age groups and with the help of the Lewes Ladies the under 11s practised their positional play and rucking over and ball handling skills, the U13s also did some ball handling and positional running with the ladies before playing a game of Pulborough vs a barbarians team of Lewes and Heathfield.

Despite Lewes and Heathfield only having met once, the girls all seemed to know each other and settled into one squad very quickly and surprised Pulborough when they put the first try over the line. What followed was a great game with the newly formed barbarians holding their own and only narrowly losing to a much more experienced and well-drilled team.

The under 15s being only six in number were taken under the wing of some of the senior team and practiced the art of tackling and possession keeping.

All in all a great morning was had by all and topped of with all the girls getting together and chatting in the club house over some food and drink. Well done to coaches Paul Johnson (who scored a try for Lewes Veterans on Friday night) and Brian Anderson for setting up this promising new squad!
