MORE COMPETITION AND MORE TRAVELLING!

After winning promotion to London League 3 for the coming season, Lewes RFC face a tough season ahead, both in terms of the higher level of competitiveness in this Division and the extra travelling involved.
Player-Coach Mike Stubbs (pictured above, left with team Captain James Halpin after lifting the Sussex Shield at the end of last season) has been retained, and he views the forthcoming challenges as follows:

“The boys are working hard in training to improve on last year, and make an impact in London 3 South-East. There have been some exciting additions to the squad, with former stalwarts Shane Costigan, Sam Jones, Tom Tudor, Mark Edmondson and Kirk Ward returning to the Club. Abe Bredin is another who has impressed during the pre-season.
Things are progressing nicely and we look forward to visiting Heathfield and Waldron on 3rd. September for a friendly match (k.o. 3.00pm), against a higher-ranked side, before playing two Sussex rivals in the opening games of the League: home to Pulborough on
10th. September and away to Eastbourne on 17th. September (both k.o.’s 3.00pm).”

Lewes Rugby's pre-season training is now going full swing at the Stanley Turner Ground. The schedule is as follows:
Men and Colts and training together every Tuesday and Thursday from 7.30 pm
Ladies on Thursdays from 7 pm til 9 pm
U13s and U14s every Tuesday 6.30-7.30 pm
U15s and U16s every Thursday 6.30-7.30 pm

For Mini’s (Under 7’s to Under12’s, for both girls and boys), the Club is holding its Registration day on the morning of Sunday, 4th. September from 0930, followed by training sessions for all participants.

The Club welcomes any existing or prospective new players to come along and become involved in one of Britains’s growing sports, particularly after the Olympic success of the 7-a-side game.
