It is with great sadness that Lewes RFC has to inform you of the recent sad loss of 2 former Club stalwarts: Christine Spencer (wife of former player Tony), and her brother-in-law Peter Butler (husband to Trish).

Christine was a regular supporter of the Club and a keen organiser of many of our social events, including the legendary Elvis and Quiz Nights. After fighting off cancer for several years, brave Chrissie died while on holiday in Thailand, with all her family around her.

Pete was a formidable front-row player for Lewes in his earlier days and attended nearly every home match until very recently, as well as being a member of our last touring party to Lewes's twin-town, Blois in France. Pete passed away in Eastbourne Hospital after a short illness.

The Club sends its deepest sympathies and condolences to Tony, Trish and their families at this difficult time - which for the 2 families, the Club and its friends and supporters represents the end of an era.
