Lewes 1st XV's first League game of the season on Saturday was postponed as their opponents, Seaford, had a Cup match which took priority.
Lewes 2nds League match - away to Seaford 2nds - did however take place, and it proved a convincing win for the visitors by 13 - 32. After taking a first-half lead with unconverted tries from Aidan Byrne and Patrick Rourke, Lewes pulled away in the second half with further tries from George Dean, Owen Jones, Sam Durley and Mike Stubbs, with Rourke slotting over two conversions. Seaford's reply was a solitary, second-half penalty.
Next Saturday, there are no games for Lewes due to the opening week-end of the Rugby World Cup; however, the Clubhouse will be open on Friday evening for the viewing of England's opening World Cup match v Fiji on the Club's big screen, k.o. 8.00pm; the bar will be open, with food and drink available at bargain prices.
Lews 1sts first League match is now away to Horsham on 26 September, with the 2nds at home to Ditchling.
