With no game for the 1st XV, Lewes 2nd's made the long trip to Rye on Saturday 2nd November, but came home empty-handed after a 12 - 0 defeat. Determined to get things going, they travelled – with 12 men - the 80 mile round trip, on an afternoon when the weather was appalling – what Romney Marsh was like in the driving rain can only be imagined. It was the only Merit match played that day

For fulfilling their fixture, in difficult circumstances, the team were awarded £60 beer money and 2 new match balls under Sussex RFU's new initiative: "Let's Make it Happen", aimed at encouraging Clubs to go the extra mile in order to get matches played, rather than postpone or cancel.

There was other great effort to fulfil a fixture the following Saturday (9th) when the club put out both senior men's teams for the first time this season. The seconds lost at home to Uckfield seconds 12-35, but once again showed the #bemorelewes spirit.
