A close but well deserved win for Lewes Women's 1st XV

Lewes women’s 1st XV hosted Beckenham for their first game of the season. After narrowly beating them exactly a year ago, they were expecting a similar match in strength and experience and it was always going to be close.
Beckenham displayed some excellent form, leading the way with a try in the first minutes. Both teams upped their scores throughout with barely a try between them. But Lewes managed to take control of the game in the second half. Two tactical penalty kicks from Josie Nelder extended Lewes’s lead. By the last play, Beckenham had scored another try but it went unconverted leaving the full time score at 22-23 to Lewes.

A nail biting win with tries from Hannah Boss, Nic Minchell, Grace Darling, and 1 conversion + 2 penalty kicks from Josie Nelder.
Forward of the match went to Hannah Boss for her unrelenting attack. Best back went to Chip for her excellent handling and she did a great job in her first game VC.
