Seaford 0-60 Lewes IIs

On Sunday, the Women's 2nd XV took a short trip to the coast to face local rivals Seaford. It was a fine day for rugby with the sun shining and wind relatively low for The Salts, quite the contrast to the conditions that the men’s team faced the previous day.
Before kick off, Seaford made it clear that they had 12 players, (included some borrowed from around the local area), and Lewes matched this, despite their having a full 22 players.
Lewes got off to a shaky start, they were camped out in their own half for the first 5 minutes, putting in some great defence to ensure that Seaford did not capitalise on this valiant effort. But as Lewes settled in to the game, it was clear that this was a brief blip on what was a great performance from the squad.
The final score was 0-60, Lewes scored some spectacular tries, mostly the result of a line break and a sprint for the line. The defence was outstanding, with the clean sheet being a testament to Lewes’ fantastic tackling and teamwork in defence.
This Sunday, the 2nd XV look to maintain their top of the table status away to Hove 2nd XV, while the 1st XV are home to Old Elthamians.
