Lewes Colts ran in 11 tries in their first match of the season to chalk up an emphatic win over Uckfield.
It was particularly satisfying to see the whole squad playing the open game that we have been working on in training, keeping the ball alive and running great support lines. Tries were scored by outside centre Brad Andersen, flanker turned temporary prop Finley Toghill, captain Geordie Gwynn, winger Bailey Le Beau, our new Italian ‘signing’ Matteo Soriano, outside centre Alasdair Darling and scrum half Dante McGuire.
Full credit to Uckfield for putting up a strong resistance throughout and playing the game in very good spirit. They thoroughly deserved the consolation try they scored half way through the second half.
Finally a big thank you to Lewes players Milo Folkes and Reece Manser for volunteering to play for Uckfield who were short on numbers. And congratulations to Reece for scoring Uckfield's only try even though he was playing for the opposition!
